Description Deep round sifter basket with somewhat rounded base and rounded sides, rising to a wide mouth; Basket is woven entirely in plaited technique; Warp and weft material is split yucca leaves; Warps and wefts are arranged in groups of 3, and plaiting proceeds in an over 3/under 3 (groups of warps/wefts) pattern, resulting in a design of concentric diamonds; Exterior side of split yucca leaves is turned toward interior for both warps and wefts, while exterior surface is turned toward exterior of basket; At the rim, both the warp and weft fibers are folded over a single heavy wooden stem that has been bent to form a continuous ring, and then stitched to themselves using a single row of yucca leaves in a twining technique; Ends of warps and wefts are trimmed approximately 3.5 cm below the twined row.
