Description | Shallow round sifting basket with flat base and low rounded sides, woven in plaited technique (mostly over 3, under 3); Warp material is natural colored split yucca leaves and weft material is sun-bleached split yucca leaves; At rim, the warps and wefts are folded over single sumac (?) reinforcing rod that encircles rim and held in place with single row of yucca leaves woven in twining technique; Exterior surface of both warp and weft fibers faces inward, so design of concentric diamonds on interior of tray is accomplished by using only unbleached yucca fibers for warps and bleached fibers for weft. | |
