Description Painting entitled "The Potter", depicting kneeling pueblo woman dressed in orange blouse, green one shoulder dress, and gray apron, shaping large pottery bowl in front of her; Can of water is shown in foreground; Signature "Pablita Velarde" is printed in gray paint near lower right corner; Title "The Potter" and "Santa Clara Pueblo" are written in pencil on reverse. Pablita Velarde is the mother of Helen Hardin, whose early paintings are represented in the CAS painting collection, and the sister of Legoria Tafoya, whose pottery is represented in the CAS pottery collection.
