Description | Untitled painting on white paper depicting 2 dancers from Comanche dance, both shown in left profile; Lead male dancer is dressed in plains style attire, including long eagle feather war bonnet, and carries feathered staff; Female dancer is dressed in woven black pueblo one-shoulder dress, turquoise blouse and pink shawl with pair of eagle feathers on either side of her hair; She carries pair of turkey feathers in each hand; Both figures shown against plain white background with no attempt at perspective; Signature "Awa Tsireh" is printed in blue ink in lower right corner. Awa Tsireh was the cousin of Margaret Lou Gutierrez, whose work is represented in the CAS pottery collection. | |
