Description Painting on watercolor paper entitled "The Sunrise or Coming of the Sun", depicting small fire encircled by trimmed parrot (?) feathers in green and yellow and by row of eagle plumes; Rays of light emanate outward from fire; Christian cross motif is overhead, flanked by two geometric medallions; Signature M. Tsatoke 35" is printed in green paint in lower right corner; Pencil notation on reverse of original cardboard matting includes above title, along with notation, "This is what Monroe has seen under the influence of peyote after all night's meeting." This painting was exhibited at the National Gallery of Art and the San Francisco Museum of Art in 1942 and was selected by Ruth Elkus in 1965 as her annual holiday card, printed by the Grabhorn Press in San Francisco.
