Description Untitled painting on white watercolor paper depicting buffalo dance scene including 3 drummers playing pueblo-style barrel drums, 2 male buffalo dancers wearing white kilts and buffalo headdresses, 2 female dancers wearing white embroidered one-shoulder dresses and carrying turkey feather fans, and 1 male dancer wearing beaded buckskin leggings and kilt with plumed serpent image and carrying bow and arrows; Sun motif is overhead and brown rainbow arches over all figures, ending in geometric design at sides; Signature "Gilbert Atencio '57" is printed in black ink in lower right corner. Gilbert Atencio was the son of Isabel Montoya Atencio, the brother of Helen Gutierrez, and the nephew of sisters Desideria Montoya Sanchez and Maria Martinez, all of whose work is also represented in the CAS collection.
