Description Pin in the form of a Knifewing katsina; Component parts of figure, including headdress, face, wings, body, skirt, legs and feet, and tail all combine jet, turquoise, oyster and/or other shell arranged in mosaic inlay in very finely notched bezels and mounted on silver back plate; Lower edge of wings are also bordered in twisted wire and row of silver raindrops stamped with star pattern; Steel pin and clasp is soldered onto reverse; Pin is unsigned, but “MLOA” is inscribed on reverse; Previously attributed by Martha Struever (major Santa Fe, NM Indian art dealer) as work of Leo Poblano on basis of black and white sash across figure’s chest).
