Description Deep round, wheel-thrown bowl with short footed base and rounded, flaring sides that rise to a straight outward-curving rim with a broad, flattened lip; Interior and exterior are scraped smooth and, with the exception of the exterior base, are coated with a turquoise blue glaze; Exterior is overpainted with black or dark blue; Designs on interior are arranged in two encircling bands, the first of which extends around the upper sides and consists of pairs of narrow vertical lines that attach to upper and lower framing lines of the same width and color; Traces of a second band in the interior center of the bowl show at least one arrow and possibly other straight lines that are pendant from an upper framing line and point toward the center; Surface of glaze has deteriorated, especially on bowl’s interior, becoming iridescent and almost completely masking the underlying design.
