Description | Deep round basket with flat base, slightly flared lower sides, and wide inward sloping shoulder starting at midlevel height; Corresponding round lid has short interior lip and tall wide cylindrical knob handle; Both basket and lid are woven in coiled technique over bundle foundation; Warp material is rye grass stems and weft material is rye grass leaves; Designs are woven of dyed rye grass leaves and include 3 green and 3 red rectangles around lower sides of basket, blue band around mid-section, and band of red or green vertical chevrons around upper sides; Designs on lid consist of concentric red and green bands on top knob handle, green band around outer perimeter of shoulder, and band of brown weft fiber woven in ribbon beading technique around inner perimeter of shoulder. | |
