Description From BRL: “Folding knife; Probably India, but unsure; Grooved wood handle with two bands of red paint; Engraved brass bolster and cap; Steel blade with two grooves on end side; Backs on (sic) steep pick; No spring; This mechanism, called a ‘balance knife’ or a ‘clutch knife’; Used in India, also used in France but French examples are more delicate; May have been used in southern Europe; Probably 18th or early 19th century.”
