Description A: Knife; B: Sheath; From BRL 1982: "Small knife and scabbard. Germany. Blade: late 19th century / marked F. Herder, Abr. Sohn, Solingen (est. 1623, presently still in business). Handle: 18th century style, but is much later, probably late 18th or early to mid 19th century. Handle is hollow silver or plate with embossed design of classical figures / cast finial of dog / has touchmarks on reverse. Scabbard: Silver, 19th or 20th century. Scabbard is not correct, originally possibly for a small gaucho knife."
