Description Three-tined carving fork, with steel tines and a collapsible guard, black wooden handle is enclosed on both ends by silver decoration, back of wood handle has a silver shield imbedded in it; From BRL 1982: "Carving fork, France, Empire style, circa 1800-1815. Three-tined fork with fancy bolster and shank; Ebony handle; Silver ferrule, cap, and shield; Well fitted spring-loaded folding guard with trefoil end."
