Description Four-tined fork, with steel tines, black wooden handle has carved proximal end, back of wood handle has a silver shield imbedded in the center of it; From BRL 1982: "Large dinner fork, mid 19th century France. Ebony handle, nickel silver ferrule and shield; cast tin burr. Note: style is Empire, but base metal mounts indicate later manufacture, probably mid 19th century."
