Description | Small J-shaped fish hook carved from a piece of abalone shell; Dorsal and ventral faces of hook are somewhat flattened, with slightly rounded edges; The straight shaft curves sharply and widely, tapering to a sharp, inward-pointing distal end; Very small barb at proximal end may have aided in attaching hook to a line, or may indicate that hook was originally perforated and is now missing nearly all of its proximal end. | |
