Description | Round stone lamp with carved sides; Bowl is pecked and ground to shape; Base is flat and sides rise vertically; Crouching human-like figure is carved on sides of bowl, suggesting figure is straddling mouth of bowl, grasping sides of bowl with both its arms and legs; Figure has no torso, but is carved as if its stomach were lying over the mouth of the bowl; Legs are bent at 90 degrees, with thighs parallel to bowl rim and lower legs pointing to base; Arms are fairly parallel to the rim and bent at the elbows so that the hands would be near the chin; Figure’s head is missing, but breakage point suggests it had extended out from the rim. | |
