Description | Small round basket with flat base and straight vertical sides and corresponding round slightly domed lid with small, flat-topped knob handle and low sides that fit down over rim of basket; Basket start is woven in plain twined technique in center of base and then alternate rows of plaiting and plain twining for the remainder of the base, changing again to plain twining on the sides; Lid is woven entirely in lain twining; Primary warp and weft material is spruce roots; Dye blue weft is used for two concentric band on sides of basket and two additional concentric bands on lid, all of which are further decorated with groups of 3 chevrons woven in overlay technique, using natural colored and dyed red bear grass. | |
