Description Elongated triangular harpoon head carved from a single piece of ivory; Point is slightly concave-convex in longitudinal cross-section and biconvex in transverse cross-section; Pronounced median ridge runs nearly the entire length on one face only; Lateral edges are carved with two deep notches (forming pronounced barbs) on each edge, before tapering gradually to a sharp distal point; Proximal end is somewhat cylindrical in shape and is socketed at end to fit onto distal end of harpoon shaft; Round hole is drilled through shaft near proximal end, perpendicular to the hafting socket to accommodate the toggle line.
