The
Traditional Arts Program offers internships in cultural
anthropology to undergraduate and graduate students interested
in supplementing their university courses with hands-on
ethnographic experience within the Bay Area's diverse
communities.
The purpose of the internship is to provide students with practical experience in museum anthropology,
and to give them the opportunity to apply academic theories and methodologies to real-life work
situations. Students design their own projects, and may choose to develop their fieldwork and
documentation skills, pursue in-depth research, or learn about interpreting culture for museum
audiences. Topics are varied. (Click here to see past internship projects).
Each intern must obtain written approval from his/her faculty advisor, stating that course credit
will be given for the internship.
