BOTANY DEPARTMENT COLLECTIONS: Overview | Specimen Holdings | Collectors | Organization | Publications | Types | Chiapas | Gaoligong Shan | Search CHECKLIST of VASCULAR PLANTS of GAOLIGONG SHAN, YUNNAN PROVINCE, CHINA Biotic Survey of the Gaoligong Shan | Browse/Search the Checklist of Plants of Gaoligong Shan The starting point of this checklist are two published checklists of the area (Li 1993; Li, Guo & Dao, eds. 2000). These published checklists were based primarily on specimens in the herbarium of the Kunming Institute of Botany http://www.kib.ac.cn/. Additional names have been added from Vascular Plants of the Hengduan Mountains (Wang & Wu eds. 1993-94) particularly for pteridophytes. The GLGS Checklist has been brought into nomenclatural conformity with the published volumes of the Flora of China (FOC) (Raven & Wu eds. 1994, 1995, 1996, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001a, 2001b, 2003a, 2003b, 2005; http://flora.huh.harvard.edu/china/) with an equals sign to indicate the current name when changes in synonymy have been made. As additional volumes of the Flora of China are published the GLGS Checklist will be brought into nomenclatural conformity with these volumes. For those families that have not yet been published in the Flora of China we are currently bringing the GLGS Checklist into nomenclatural conformity with the published volumes of Flora Reipublicae Popularis Sinicae (FRPS). The GLGS Checklist will be maintained and updated to include all new records of vascular plants from the region as they are discovered and will be used as a tool for all specimen based botanical work conducted in the area as part of the joint project on the Biodiversity of Gaoligong Shan being undertaken by the California Academy of Sciences, Kunming Institute of Botany, and Kunming Institute of Zoology.
