| Comments | Subgenus of genus Tropidoneis Cleve. In his discussion about genus Amphiprora Ehr., Cleve (1891, #000228) names and describes this new subgenus in the following way (in French) :I think it is more natural to unit in a same genus the Plagiotropis, Amphoropsis, also the forms of the type of the Amphiprora maxima that we could call Orthotropis, and the forms of the type A. mambrabacea: Apteroe. As a generic name for this 4 groups, we could choose the name Tropidoneis. The only Orthotropis species mentioned in #000228 is Amphiprora maxima. In Cleve 1894 (000232) there is some discussion and description about (sub)genus Orthotropis (p. 22-23) and description of 7 species (transfered into genus Tropidoneis).. |
