| Comments | Type by monotypy. The name is introduced in Pantocsek 1892 (ref. 01034), pl. 1, fig. 8, as "Pseudodictyoneis hungarica Cleve"; there is no description and indication that this is a new genus (Pantocsek usually uses “n.s.” or “n.g” to indicate new taxa). It is possible that this genus may not be validly published in Pantocsek 1892 for the following reasons: 1) the word Pseudodictyoneis may not have been intended as a new name but to indicate a possible unnamed genus resembling Dictyoneis Cleve (see ICBN-1994 Art. 10.4(a) p. 30); 2) it is lacking the indication "n.g" (new genus) usually present for Pantocsek's new genera. The name does not seem to be accepted by Pantocsek 1905, p. 47, where it is described as "Dictyoneis hungarica Pant. Syn. Pseudodictyoneis hungarica Pant". |
