Farr et al. 1979 and current internet version of the ING give two possible original references for this name and state that "the priority of these two publications of this name, both based on the same gathering, is uncertain": Dickieia Berkeley ex Kützing 1844, pg. 119 (ref. 000595). T: Dickieia ulvacea Berkeley ex Kützing 1844, and Dickieia Berkeley et Ralfs, Ann. Mag. Nat. Hist. 14:328, Nov. 1844 (ref. 001599). In Berkeley & Ralfs (ref. 001599) this genus is described as new and a single species is included: Dickiea ulvoides Berk. & Ralfs (note different spelling of specific epithet). It is unclear which of ref. 000595 or ref. 001599 was published first. |
