| Comments | Two species are described in Agardh 1832, Isthmia obliquata, Isthmia vesiculosa, and no type is designated. Farr et al. (1979) indicate that Kützing 1833 (ref. 000594), p. 579, 610, designated I. obliquata as the lectotype. Kützing 1833 treated Isthmia vesiculosa as a Biddulphia (p. 610, p. 82 in other reprint), retaining, of the original species, only I. oblicata in genus Isthmia (p. 579, p. 51 in other reprint). Kützing's action does not by itself constitute lectotypification of the genus. Boyer 1927 (ref. 000155), p. 140 gives I. obliquata as the type. |
