| Comments | Type by monotypy. Name first introduced in Van Heurck 1883 (ref. 001037), pl. 108, fig. 5-6, as Triceratium (Odontella-Lampriscus) shadboltianum Greville. This name, meant for a subgroup of Triceratium, was not validly published by Grunow in Van Heurck. Name clearly used at the genus rank in Van Heurck 1884 (Table alphabetique) (ref. 001039), where it is listed on p. 78 as Odontella-Lampriscus shadboltianus (Greville). The name is not validly published by Van Heurck because a generic description is lacking, in addition, it seems that it was not accepted by Van Heurck and allotted to Triceratium. |
