| Comments | Type by "synonymy and monotypification". Type designated by Grunow in Van Heurck 1881, pl. 54 (ref. 001035). Comments: Four species are originally described, and no type is designated. Navarro & Williams 1991 (ref. 006866) state: "Grunow in Van Heurck 1881 transferred all species of Hyalosira to Striatella [as varieties of S. delicatula] considering them to be conspecific, and selected S. delicatula as their type". Although Grunow did not explicitly state that S. delicatula is the type of the genus, we interpret Grunow's action as constituting typification of the genus with S. delicatula . Farr et al. (1979) and current Internet version of the ING indicate that the type is not designated. |
