Comments The name was first introduced in Pantocsek 1892 (ref. 001034) with the illustration of Epithelion curvatum (pl. 17, fig. 253), E. spinifer (pl. 20, fig. 291), E. hungaricum (pl. 27, fig. 396) and E. russicum (pl. 29, fig. 424). It was, however, not validly published then because no description was provided while the genus was not monotypic (these 4 species were therefore not validly published either). The valid publication of genus Epithelion is in Pantocsek 1905 (ref. 001445), p. 48, where descriptions are provided for the genus and the species. Type not originally designated.
