| Comments | Latin description of the genus p. XIV, latin description of 3 species p. 2-3, M. vernale, M. ovatum, M. radians, no type designated. Farr et al. (1979) however, gives Meridion vernale C.A. Agardh as the holotype. Hanna (unpubl. ms) remarked, and we can confirm, that the type, Meridion vernale, was designated by Bory (Dict. Class. d'Hist. Nat., vol. 10, 1826, p. 425, ref. 000145). |
