Comments Type by monotypy. This genus was described in a paper about radiolarians with the following comments: "it may not belong to the Radiolaria at all...it bears some resemblance to the diatom." It is a diatom indeed, a species of Asterolampra (Asterolampra insignis Schmidt 1889 according to SVL). Taxonomic synonym of Asterolampra Ehrenberg.
