| Comments | Type by monotypy. Comments: May not have been validly published in Van Heurck 1883, because not clearly accepted by the original author. It is introduced and illustrated pl. 118 as P. [odosira] (genus novum Microspodiscus Grun.?) oliveriana (O' Meara) Grun. (see ICBN 1994, Art. 34.1). Only one species is presented in Van Heurck 1883 (P. oliveriana). In Van Heurck 1885 (ref. 001040) p. 210 there is a description of genus Micropodiscus Grun. (note the different spelling) and these words: "only one species: M. weissflogii Grun." In Van Heurck 1884 (table alphabétique ref. 001039) p. 59, there is an entry for Micropodiscus ? Oliverianus. It seems that these 2 names represent the same genus. More information may be obtained from "Types du Synopsis" no. 11 & 416 (ref. 000896). See also Grunow 1884 (ref. 000444), p. 79, where the name Micropodiscus is mentioned. |
