| Comments | First record of this genus is in Schmidt's Atlas 1906 (pl. 264, figs. 4,5,8,9) (ref. 000807) as "Östrupia" . Two species are included, Östrupia powellii (Lewis) Heiden and Östrupia quadriseriata (P.T. Cleve & A Grunow in P.T. Cleve 1881) Heiden (= Caloneis quadriseriata Cl. & Gr.) and no indication of which one is the generitype. This genus name was not validly published in A. Schmidt because no description was given. Hustedt 1935 (ref. 001280) provided the validating description. Spelling is also Östrupia in Hustedt and must be changed to Oestrupia in accordance to ICBN 1994 (Art. 60.6). Hustedt (1935) includes six species but does not designate a type. |
