Comments Type originally indicated (other species questionably included). According to Mereschkowsky 1901 (ref. 002513), "The genus Okedenia was established by Eulenstein in a manuscript which was never published". Name is found in Cleve and Möller 1879 (ref. 001977) as "Okedenia inflexa Eulenstein, slide no. 192" however no description or illustration is provided, therefore the genus name is not validely published here; the name is also found in Van Heurck 1880-1885, no. 167 (ref. 000896) (not verified). De Toni (1891) provides a Latin description of the genus as well as descriptions for 3 species: O. inflexa, O.? japonica, and O.? cretae. Okedenia inflexa is not designated as the type, however it should be considered a holotype (the other species being questionably included). Emended by C. Mereschkowsky 1901, pg. 415, 422 (ref. 002513).
