| Comments | Two species are illustrated in Schmidt's Atlas: Pseudauliscus radiatus (J.W. Bailey 1854) A. Schmidt (pl. 34 fig. 28) and Pseudauliscus peruvianus (Kitton ex Pritchard 1861) A. Schmidt (pl. 34 fig. 29), no type designated; there is also no indication that this is a new genus. Round, Crawford & Mann (1990), p. 699, give P. radiatus Bailey as the type, and P. peruvianus as the type, p. 226, which might invalidate their typification. This genus name was validly published in Schmidt's Atlas because the short comments in the plate caption qualifies as a diagnosis ("Zu Pseudauliscus recline ich alle Auliscen ohne sculpturlose Area"). Leuduger-Fortmorel 1879, p. 64 (ref. 000606) considered this genus invalidly published by Schmidt and proposed a validating description. |
