Comments Type by original designation (also monotypic). Later homonym of Pseudosynedra Pantocsek ex Moesz 1904. This name was first introduced in Leuduger-Fortmorel 1892 (ref. 000607) p. 31, with the spelling Pseudo-Synedra. This was however not a validly published name because it was not intended as a new genus name: "Les deux espèces suivantes sont fort rares et c'est sans grande conviction que nous les plaçons après Synedra; mais pour ne pas créer de genre nouveau sans base certaine, nous les désignerons sous le nom de: Pseudosynedra". The species included are Pseudo-synedra Peragalli Leuduger-Fortmorel and Pseudo-Synedra Debyi Leuduger-Fortmorel (note: these 2 species names are not validly published in Leuduger-Fortmorel). In addition, the following comments (in French) are made as part of the description of P. peragalli: "It seems to us that this species does not have the characteristic elements of Synedra neither those of Licmophora or Sceptroneis, and that it belongs to an undefined genus close to the ones mentioned above." It was also not validly published by Leuduger-Fortmorel because no generic description was given while including more than one taxon. Boyer validated the genus by accepting it and by providing a description. He included only one species, P. peragalli, which he designated as the type.
