| Comments | Two species originally included, Striatella arcuata (Lyng.) Ag., Striatella unipunctata (Lyng.) Ag., no type designated by Agardh. Farr et al. (1979) indicate that Ehrenberg 1838 (ref. 000288) designated the lectotype (p. 202, 230). Ehrenberg 1838 (p. 202) transferred Diatoma arcuatum Lyngbye (= Striatella arcuata [Lyng.] Ag.) into genus Tessella . The only one of the species originally included in genus Striatella, Fragilaria unipunctata Lyng. (= Striatella unipunctata [Lyng.] Ag.) is left by Ehrenberg in genus Striatella (p. 230) with a new name Striatella arcuata. Ehrenberg's action does not constitue lectotypification which is effected by Boyer (1927) (ref. 000155), p. 160. |
