Comments Type by monotypy . After his description of the genus Radiopalma, Brun describes a new species Radiopalma dichotoma. In smaller font on p. 42, Brun indicates that Radiopalma dichotoma and other taxa (Stictodiscus crozierii Kitton, St. kittonoanus Greville, St. morianus and figures 74/24,25 in Schmidt's Atlas) form a natural group that should not belong to Stictodiscus. Radiopalma dichotoma Brun 1891 is the only species described, illustrated and actually referred to as Radiopalma, in Brun's 1891 paper. Brun's statement is a little ambiguous, on the one hand he indicates that Radiopalma dichotoma and a list of several Stictodiscus species form a natural group, but he does not actually state that this group constitutes a single genus. Considering the ambiguity as to whether the Stictodiscus species are included, it seems fair to consider the genus monotypic and Radioplama dichotoma Brun the holotype. Farr et al. 1979, p. 1480, give R. dichotoma as the type.
