| Comments | Listed as rejected vs. Rhizosolenia Brightwell (nom. cons.) in ICBN 1956, p. 201 (ref. 006916), no longer rejected in the subsequent codes. The name was thought to be the earliest available taxonomic synonym to apply to Rhizosolenia sensu Brightwell non Ehrenberg 1843. When Rhizosolenia was conserved, however, Monoceros became a possible later taxonomic synonym (P. Silva, pers. com.). Type by monotypy. |
