| Comments | Grunow in this paper divides the genus Coscinodiscus in to 3 groups (Gruppe): 1) Radiati, 2) Fasciculati, 3) Pseudostephanodiscus. Pseudostephanodiscus seems to be a subgroup (subgenera) of genus Coscinodiscus. Coscinodiscus lacustris and varieties are the only taxa described under this category. C. lacustris is probably the type of this subgenus, however, in the German discussion p. 86 other species names are mentioned (including C. plicatus) [a German translation is needed to clarify the status of this genus/subgenus] |
