| Comments | Type by monotypy. The author seems to doubt that this is a new genus: genus introduced as Spermatogonia nov. gen ? and says "is it a Thalassiothrix ?" VanLandingham says: "Not a diatom genus". P. Silva in ING (current internet version) wrote: "Originally assigned to the diatoms, this genus has been shown to represent spicules of the rhizopod Sticholonche (vide H. Van Heurck, Rapp. Sci. Voy. Belgica, Diatomées 51. 1909). The generic name is retained in botanical nomenclature for purposes of homonymy". |
