| Comments | Type by monotypy. Name first introduced in Ehrenberg 1854 (Mikrogeologie, Text, ref. 000300) p. 373, as a subdivision of Eunotia. Two species are illustrated on pl. 33,VII/1,2 (ref. 000966) (as Amphicampa eruca, and Amphicampa mirabilis). Ralfs in Pritchard 1861 (ref. 001063) p. 765 elevated it to genus rank, provided a description of the genus, described A. mirabilis and cited A. eruca as a synonym of A. mirabilis. Ehrenberg 1870 (ref. 000309) p. 43 presents it as a new genus and provides a Latin description; the genus name, however, was already validly published in Ralfs in Pritchards 1861. Farr et al. 1979 (ref. 006663), p. 70, give Amphicampa mirabilis (Ehr.) Ralfs as the holotype. Boyer (1927) (ref. 000155), p. 226 gives Amphicampa eruca (Ehr.) Ralfs as the type. |
