Lange-Bertalot 1980 (ref. 006891), p. 586, indicates that Gomphonema abbreviatum Agardh 1830 is a synonym of Gomphonema curvatum Kützing 1833, and that, because the epithet abbreviatum has priority above the epithet curvatum, the legitimate name of the type species of genus Rhoicosphenia is Rhoicosphenia abbreviata (Agardh) Lange-Bertalot 1980. |
