| Comments | Name rejected vs. Gomphonema in ICBN 1956 (ref. 006916), p. 200; name no longer rejected in subsequent Codes. Gomphonella was listed as nom. rej. in the Paris Code because at that time Gomphonema was conserved as of Hustedt 1830, it became a possible later taxonomic synonym when the place of publication of the conserved name was taken back to Rabenhorst 1853. Four species described in original publication, three of them newly described (G. olivacea, G. angustata, G. Lenormandi), and G. parvula (Kutz.) Rab. new. comb, no type originally designated. G. olivacea is listed as the type in ICBN 1956 (ref. 006916), p. 200. Pre-rejection lectotypification found in Taxon 1: 95-96. July 1952 (ref. 006922)and in Reg. Veg. 3:70. Sept 1952 (=ICBN 1952). |
