| Comments | Clearly not intended by H.L. Smith as the name of a new taxon. In H.L. Smith as "Actinocyclus interpunctatus Bri[ghtwell]". H.L. Smith also cites in the printed schedule of notes "M.T. viii, vi, 17" referring to the original illustration of Actinoptychus interpunctatus Brightwell. Non (Brightwell) Ralfs in Pritchard 1861 according to Mann 1907, p. 262 (ref. 000631): "...better considered a variety of A. ralfsii.." The fact that Mann disagreed with the specimens on "Diat. Species Typicae" no. 12 being determined as Actinocyclus interpunctatus (Brightwell) Ralfs has no bearing on whether H.L. Smith was proposing a new name. | ||
