Search Locality Database

The Locality Database contains location, ecological, and collection information (collectors, date, etc.), as well as material status (exsiccate at CAS, its form, e.g. raw, cleaned) for samples in the collection. Each individual sample receives a unique "accession number." In some cases material has not yet been made into slides, but records of this material are contained in the database. One may search by entering the state or province, county, accession number, and/or epoch.

The abbreviations and the field names they represent are:

St: State or province
Co: County
ACCESSION #: Accession Number: a unique number assigned to material from each sample location, which may be cross-referenced with the Taxon database
C/O: Contintent/Ocean
C: Country
C/T: City or Town
Is: Island
W: Water Body
F/R: Fossil/Recent
M: Material (whether it is at CAS and its condition)
La: Latitude
Lo: Longitude
PUBLICATION #: Publication number: a unique number assigned to a publication, which may be cross-referenced with the Publication and Taxon databases
L: Locality description
Orig: Original description
Cl: Collector
So: Source of the material donated to CAS
DATE: Date collected
ID: Previous identification number
Path: History of sample including its donation to CAS
E: Epoch
Eco: Ecology of the sample
N: Notes
