This is the smallest species of Myrmeleon on Madagascar with a forewing length of about 23 mm. The pronotum is dark, with four pale lateral spots and usually pale anterior margin. The forewing setal bases are dark creating an alternating pale and dark pattern. The pterostigma is dark. The base of each abdominal tergite is often pale, tapering posteriorly. Sometimes these spots are joined in a medial pale abdominal stripe.
