DIAGNOSIS
 This is the only species of Syngenes in Madagascar with pale bands across the abdomen. Some individuals (both males and females) have a dark spot at the apex of CuP in the forewing, as do some individuals of Syngenes inquinatus.

TYPE LOCALITY
Syntype male: Madagascar, "1910" (MZBS); syntype female: Madagascar, Diego-Suarez, G. Grandidier, 1910 (MNHN).
GEOGRAPHICAL DISTRIBUTION
This species is known from scattered localities throughout the island.
TEMPORAL DISTRIBUTION
November to April.

Sea level to 1125 m.
