Diagnosis
Glenochrysa is a distinctive genus of 19 species and subspecies widely distributed in the Old World tropics. The male genitalia lack a tignum, but contain a small gonapsis; the ectoproct is elongate and narrow and gonocristae are present on the dorsal surface of the elongate sternite 8+9. Many species have diffuse black or brown markings on the wings. There are five species and two subspecies found in the African tropics, one species being from Madagascar, with two subspecies on the Comoro Islands.
The nominate subspecies can be separated from the other two subspecies not only by geographical distribution, but also by the more intense dark coloration on the forewing at the origin of the radial sector (ORs).
