Diagnosis

Tjeder (1966) provides illustrations of wings, and male and female genitalia. He comments that "the distinctly pointed, rather narrow wings with black gradates of both series seem to distinguish this species from the other South African species of the group in question."

Type Locality

of Italochrysa variegata is COMORO ISLANDS: Sta. Johanna (now Anjouan), lectotype male.

of Nothochrysa sordidata is: MADAGASCAR: Tamatave (now Toamasina), 1 (sex unknown).

Geographical Distribution

Tjeder (1966) records this species from SOUTH AFRICA, MOZAMBIQUE, and ZIMBABWE in addition to the COMORO ISLANDS.  The type locality of Nothochrysa sordidata appears to be the only specific locality known for Madagascar.
