World Checklist of Extant Mecoptera Species

WORLD CHECKLIST OF EXTANT MECOPTERA SPECIES

CHORISTIDAE

This family is defined by having CuA broadly fused basally with M in the forewing, unlike Panorpidae, and Rs is four-branched, rather than three-branched in Nannochoristidae. These are medium-sized insects with eruciform, terrestrial larvae. The costal area is also somewhat broader than in other families.
