Holotype (unique): CAS-SU 46498 [ex NYZS 25361]. Type catalog: Mead 1958:131 [ref. 20648]. •Valid as Chlopsis apterus (Beebe & Tee-Van 1938) -- (Lavenberg 1988:255 [ref. 6617], Smith 1989:93 [ref. 13285], Tighe & McCosker 2003:1 [ref. 26920], Love et al. 2005:17 [ref. 37547], Page et al. 2013:60 [ref. 32708], Tighe et al. 2015:28 [ref. 34117], Love et al. 2021:32 [ref. 39279], Page et al. 2023:52 [ref. 40505]). Current status: Valid as Chlopsis apterus (Beebe & Tee-Van 1938). Chlopsidae. Distribution: Eastern Pacific: southern Baja California Sur and mouth of Gulf of California (Mexico) south to Colombia. Habitat: marine.
