Current status: Valid as Oxyurichthys takagi Pezold 1998. Gobiidae: Gobionellinae. Distribution: Indo-West Pacific: East Africa (Kenya), Comoros, Madagascar and Mascarenes (Mauritius) east to Palau and Fiji, north to southern Japan. Habitat: brackish, marine.
